World Wildlife Foundation. Most awesome website EVER. The URL is http://www.worldwildlife.org/home-full.html, and they have endangered animal news, animals to adopt, and a rather hilarious "Find Your Inner Animal" quiz. Dad was a warthog and Mom was a proboscis monkey. (At least I get to be a seal.)
There's a tab on the right hand side of the home page that says, "ADOPT." That's where you can choose from 100+ animals, including blue-footed boobies, Tasmanian devils, the Mekong dolphin, and several other obscure-or-not-so-obscure animals. (They also have pandas and tigers and things.) They are automatically organized by popularity, but you can change it to alphabetical, region, or threat level. And if you find a cuter koala bear than this, please tell us the website:

Photography. Effective, isn't it?
The stuffed animals that come with $50 adoptions make great gifts for children, and while simply donating money won't quite get you in the Nature Army (where's the love?), this is a great fundraising thingy. Get a group of friends together, make something, sell the crafts or give them out for free with a donation jar, and donate the money to WWF. They have a general donations section too, if you don't want to choose an animal, but where's the fun in that?
I must say, while I don't approve of adopting just for the stuffed animal, this is a truly awesome octopus, mandrill, blue-footed booby, gray wolf, barn owl combo.

Remember to comment if you find a cuter koala bear, feel free to share your "Find Your Inner Animal" results, and please take some time to observe the endless selection of endangered species to adopt at your leisure! (Now I'm turning into a salesperson. What next?)
